Welcome to MAX LEGAL – established in April 2000* – and now regarded as one of Melbourne's best boutique workplace relations practices.

Our mission is helping employees who have been treated unfairly, or unlawfully.  We do employment law exclusively.

We have built our reputation by helping all types of employees - office workers; factory staff; health, IT, legal, teaching and other professionals; trades people; sales and marketing professionals; senior executives - you name it! Hundreds of positive results have been achieved, many with our “no win no charge” arrangements.

MORE THAN A LAW FIRM…

Sure, we do the “legal stuff” if and when it’s needed - and we do it well - (see "Cases we handle"). But if at all possible, we’ll find more creative and cost-effective solutions to workplace relations problems.

Many people are surprised to learn that WorkChoices is still alive, and will be until around early 2010 when major changes are expected. Not a problem for us; we've been through several changes and we always quickly figure out the best options for our clients.

  • LEGAL CASES WE HANDLE

    • Unfair dismissals (in the Australian Industrial Relations Commission).

    • Sexual harassment, discrimination and victimisation cases (in the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission (VEOHCR); the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT); the Federal Magistrates' Court (FMC); and the Federal Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission.

    • Wrongful dismissal/breach of contract This is now a commonly used option for people who feel they have been unfairly dismissed. These rights have not been removed by the Work Choices laws. These cases are generally run in the Victorian Magistrates' Court or Federal Magistrates' Court.

    • Unlawful termination of employment (in the Federal Court / Federal Magistrates' Court).

    • Negotiations

    • Contract checking

    • Retrenchments and redundancies
